Biography

Jeremy Howell's (b. 1997)  music has been described as 'an evolving network of ideas' and 'rhythmically fascinating'. An up-and-coming composer and saxophonist, Jeremy has performed in eleven countries in classical, jazz, funk, and rock ensembles. His rich and diversified performance background has bolstered his eclectic compositional style allowing for his works to have been performed by ensembles ranging from the Eastman Saxophone Project to Big Wy’s Brass Band.

 

Jeremy has received multiple prizes in various national and state-wide competitions including the Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition, MTNA, Empire, and the Coltman Competition.

Jeremy is a current member of the Electro-Accoustic duo 'SaxVonix' alongside vocalist and composer Alexia Benson. He holds masters degrees from the University of Michigan where he studied saxophone with Dr. Timothy McAllister and Composition with Evan Chambers and Kristin Kuster. He also holds a BM in Saxophone Performance from the Eastman School of Music. He has studied saxophone with Dr. Chien-Kwan Lin, Dr. Stephen Page, and Harvey Pittel.
