I recall hearing Takemitsu's "Rain Tree" for marimba trio for the first time and feeling this sensation like that of spinning in a chair while staring upwards at the ceiling. A mesmerizing spiral that goes nowhere yet seems to grip your mind. I knew immediately that I must seek out creating this same sensation further.
